Army continues relief operation
PESHAWAR: The Pakistan Army on Tuesday continued its air and ground operations to provide relief goods to the earthquake victims in the NWFP, a military press release said.
Army aviation flew 35 sorties from PAF Base Chaklala and 55 sorties from the army’s main operational base in Mansehra to the affected areas. A total of 4,144 tents, 18,965 blankets and tonnes of other relief goods were supplied to victims in Chattar Plain, Garhi Habibullah, Balakot, Shinkiari, Battagram, Darband and other areas.
As quake refugees continued to arrive in tent villages, the army concentrated on the provision of civic amenities at the camps. The army, with the help of non-government organisations and volunteers, made elaborate plans to provide healthcare, education, electricity, telephone and other facilities to the quake victims. staff report
